Karen Curtis, Vice Chair

Karen is a retired Speech Pathologist - she taught the deaf and hard of hearing and was a sign language interpreter. She was Founder of AEROBIKIDS - fitness program for children and was a grant writer for the Central Coast YMCA. Most importantly Karen has been deeply involved in her community as a volunteer – sitting on boards such as Rancho Cielo Youth Campus, Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation, American Cancer Society Monterey County Leadership Council, American Cancer Society California Division Distinguished Events Team, and Dentistry4Vets.

Karen is involved with the Arthritis Research Coalition because she has a grandson who was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis at the age of thirteen and she wants to see that he and his family get all the knowledge and support they need to help him. Karen also wants to support the research teams at Stanford and UCSF. as Karen says, “We NEED to find a cure”. Karen is critical to ARC’s fundraising efforts, and produced our wildly successful Concert for a Cure. If you weren’t lucky enough to attend it, make sure you come to the next one in Spring of 2025!
